Belly Dance 8 Week Series
1
What Should I Wear To Belly Dance Class?
Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable and free to move!
Leggings, yoga pants, lounge wear, or other movement-friendly clothing all work well. Fitted or loose tops are both welcome; you never need to expose your stomach to participate.
If you have a scarf that is long enough to tie around your waist, this helps to highlight hip movement. I will always have multiple for you to borrow in class.
2
Should I Wear Dance Shoes to Belly Dance Class?
Barefoot is encouraged, and dance shoes such as ballet slippers are welcome if you already have them. There’s no need to purchase anything special for class. For safety and stability, socks are not recommended, as they can create slipping hazards.
Private Belly Dance Lessons
1
What Should I Wear?
Please see above in the 8 Week Series, same applies for private lessons.
2
Should I bring anything else to class?
Bring a hydration source! There is not a water source at a private studio, be prepared to have enough hydration for your lesson. Notebooks are optional, the space on the floor is limited and it is important to remove any hazards from the floor.
3
What are private lessons like?
Private lessons are a focused, one-on-one space tailored entirely to your body, your goals, and how you learn best. The pace is slower and more responsive than a group class, allowing us to break things down, refine details, and adapt movement in real time.
This isn’t just about learning steps. This is a dedicated space to explore your goals with a coach, build confidence, and deepen your relationship to movement in a way that feels supportive and sustainable for you.
Floor Work Classes
1
What Should I Wear To Floor Work Class?
For floorwork classes, long pants such as leggings or lounge wear are recommended to help you move comfortably on the floor. Fitted or loose tops are both welcome, and many students enjoy bringing a lightweight long sleeve layer for added comfort and ease of movement while gliding on the floor.
2
Do I need Knee Pads?
YES! Knee pads are required. Any knee pad will do!
Yoga mats will be provided.
3
Can I dance barefoot?
Socks or ballet slippers (dance shoes) are recommended
Due to friction from the floor, bare feet can sometimes feel uncomfortable.
Absolutely no heels.
4
How physically demanding is floorwork?
Floorwork begins with building core strength and conditioning to support foundational movement and flow on the floor. Classes may include a standing warm-up and will include getting down to and up from the floor in safe, supported ways.
Floorwork can feel physically intense at times, as it engages the whole body and builds strength, coordination, and stamina.
That said, everything is adaptable, and you are always encouraged to move at your own pace.
Most importantly, I encourage listening to your body, taking breaks when needed, and choosing ranges of motion that feel sustainable rather than pushing into strain.
